Harrisburg Senators News Release

The Harrisburg Senators dropped the series opener to the Trenton Thunder 3-1 Thursday night at ARM & HAMMER Park. Senators starter Brady Dragmire struck out a season-high seven in the loss.

Trenton opened the scoring with a run in the first against Dragmire. Rashad Crawford led off the inning with a single and stole second base. Two batters later, Chris Gittens singled in Crawford to put the Thunder ahead 1-0.

The Senators scored their only run of the game in the fourth, facing Trenton starter Jonathan Loaisiga. With Taylor Gushue at second after a one out double, Kelvin Gutierrez hit his first triple of the season to knot the game 1-1.

Loasiga allowed the one run on six hits in his five innings.

Trenton retook the lead in the sixth on a two-run home run by Bruce Caldwell to go up 3-1.

That would be the final score as the Senators had just one base runner over the final four innings.

Dragmire (2-1) allowed three runs on seven hits while striking out a season-high seven and walking none across seven innings.

Stephen Tarpley (3-0) tossed three hitless innings of relief to earn the win. Andrew Schwaab pitched a perfect ninth to notch his first save.

The Senators and Thunder play game two of the series Friday night. Jefry Rodriguez takes the hill for the Senators against Trenton starter Erik Swanson. First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at ARM and HAMMER Park. The game can be heard on CBS Sports Radio 95.3 FM, 96.5 FM and 1400 AM.
