Harrisburg Senators News Release

Harrisburg, PA - C Luke Montz, one of the top hitters in the Eastern League, was activated from the Disabled List on Tuesday. C Pat Nichols was assigned to short-season Vermont. Also Tuesday, RHP Levale Speigner was activated from the DL after missing a month with a shoulder strain. Washington Nationals 1B Dmitri Young was added as a Major League rehab. RHP Josh Hall was released by the Washington Nationals.

Montz, 24, was tied for first in the EL in RBI (31), tied for second in HR (7), was second in batting average (.364), and led the league in slugging percentage (.701) when he went on the DL last Wednesday, retroactive to last Monday.

Nichols, 23, has had two stints with the Senators this year. He was also with the club for a week in late April. Speigner, 27, pitched in Washington last year. He worked six scoreless innings for the Senators before going on the DL on April 13.

Young, 34, is recovering from a strained lower back which has had him on the Nationals' Disabled List since early April. He joins the Senators after working out at the Nationals' complex in Viera, FL. Young is a two-time major-league All-Star and the 2007 National League Comeback Player of the Year.

Hall, 27, was a major-leaguer for the Cincinnati Reds in 2003. His career has been slowed by injuries. Hall missed all of 1999 with an elbow injury and was shelved for all of 2004 and part of 2005 with a torn labrum.
