Senator Allen to join RiverDogs coaching staff

Richmond, VA – United States Senator George Allen (R-VA) will join the Richmond RiverDogs coaching staff Friday when the ‘Dogs host the Adirondack IceHawks at the Coliseum. Senator Allen will be a guest assistant coach for the ‘Dogs. He will be on the bench with ‘Dogs head coach and Hall of Fame defenseman Rod Langway and assistant coach Donnie Martin.

Senator Allen is no stranger to sports. The former University of Virginia quarterback is the son of Pro Football Hall of Fame coach George Allen. Senator Allen has taken several turns as a guest assistant hockey coach in Richmond and has an undefeated career record.

The RiverDogs will host a reception for Senator Allen prior to the game Friday evening in the Coliseum Exhibition Hall. The reception is open to all fans and media will feature refreshments.

· The Richmond 2K Challenge is underway. The ‘Dogs are looking for 2,000 season seats sold for the 2004/05 season. Season seats are on sale now for $320.00 in Center and End locations.

· Friday night is RiverDogs team poster night, with a free poster featuring a team photo of the RiverDogs for all fans. It is also a Times-Dispatch Press Pass Night. Look for the coupon in the Times-Dispatch good for $3.00 off on any adult admission. Geico will give away 2,500 antenna toppers. The ‘Dogs host Adirondack at 7:35.

· The RiverDogs are teaming up with the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation this weekend. $10 tickets for Friday's game are available at www.cffhockey.org. Those tickets are also good for the Canada vs. USA amateur hockey game Saturday at 3:15 at the Coliseum. That game also features an auction of hockey memorabilia and a drawing for prizes to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
