TONIGHT'S MATCHUP: The fifth of nine meetings and the third of five here. The ‘Dogs are 3-1 vs. the Beacons, 1-1 here. Jay Murphy has seven points vs. Port Huron. Barry McKinlay has five vs. Richmond. The ‘Dogs lead the Eastern Conference by nine points over second place Flint. The Beacons are third in the East, one point behind Flint and three up on Elmira.

LAST ACTION: Richmond lost 5-1 to Port Huron here last night. The ‘Dogs grabbed a lead just :25 seconds in on a goal by Jay Murphy. Port Huron tied the game in the first period despite being out-shot 19-4. The Beacons took command with three goals in 3:05 in the second period. Jason Firth had a goal and two assists. The ‘Dogs out-shot the Beacons 48-27. Cory Cooper made 47 saves. The clubs combined for six PIM.

'DOG BITES: The RiverDogs are winless in five straight games (0-4-1) after an 11 game unbeaten streak. Richmond has out-shot opponents in the last three games after they were out-shot in eight straight games. The ‘Dogs conclude a four game homestand tonight. Richmond plays five games in five nights this week J.F. Picard, Jeremy Wray, and Anthony DiPalma will not play this week due to injuries. Jay Murphy is 17th in the league in points, he is second in game-winning-goals with six. Maxime Gingras is fifth in the UHL in goals against average and wins. He is third in shutouts. The ‘Dogs still lead the UHL in penalty minutes. The ‘Dogs embark upon a nine game road trip following Friday's game. The 48 shots fired by the ‘Dogs last night was their third highest total of the season. Richmond is 3-5-1 when taking 40 or more shots. The ‘Dogs have allowed 13 goals in their last two games. Last night's two minutes in penalties and six total PIM's equaled season lows.

BEACONS NOTES: The Beacons are unbeaten in three straight games (2-0-1). Port Huron features three of the UHL's top 16 scorers: Jason Firth (tied 8th), Michel Beausoleil (11th), and Brent Gretzky (16th). The Beacons are in a stretch of eight games in 10 days. Port Huron is last in the UHL in shots on goal allowed. They have been out-shot 81-45 in their last two games.

AROUND THE UHL: There was one other game last night, Muskegon edged Kalamazoo 3-2 in a shootout.. Tonight Flint is at Elmira, Quad City is at Ft. Wayne, Muskegon is at Missouri, and Kalamazoo visits Rockford.
