Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
With less than six weeks remaining before Opening Day, another heart-stopping season of Quad Cities River Bandits baseball is nearly here. Stadium preparations have begun in earnest, Spring Training is in full swing and a pair of events scheduled for Saturday - Select-A-Seat and National Anthem tryouts - will give local baseball fans an early chance to get involved with another unforgettable summer on the banks of the Mississippi River.
"These events present a great opportunity for fans to come out and get an early taste of the baseball season," said team owner Dave Heller. "We're proud to include our fans in everything we do at Modern Woodmen Park, from giving them an up-close look at their seating options to being involved in the 'show' itself."
Both programs will run simultaneously on Saturday, March 7, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The final Select-A-Seat event prior to the start of the 2009 season will take place just three days before single-game tickets go on sale Tuesday, March 10, providing fans one last chance to lock in guaranteed seat locations for Full-Season and Mini-Plan ticket packages. River Bandits representatives will be on hand to answer questions about the variety of affordable and flexible ticket plans and to show available seating options. Fans can also learn more about River Bandits ticket packages by visiting www.RiverBandits.com.
National Anthem tryouts are sure to be a hit among the team's more musically-inclined fans. For the first time, a panel of celebrity judges including local TV sportscasters and personalities will be on hand, and those not participating are welcome to watch the festivities. Regardless of prior experience, all parties interested in singing the National Anthem at Modern Woodmen Park in 2009 are encouraged to attend. For more information regarding National Anthem tryouts, please contact Maggie McCoy, Manager of Community and Client Relations, at (563) 333-2768.
"It has been a long winter, but we're excited that Opening Day is right around the corner," said Vice President and General Manager Kirk Goodman. "It's going to be a lot of fun opening up our gates and inviting our fans to join us at the ballpark this Saturday."
The merchandise store will be open throughout the day as well, featuring a full complement of BanditWear and a new introductory line of Major League Baseball apparel.
