Everett Silvertips News Release
EVERETT, Wash. - Ronan Seeley capped off a comeback with a winner past Roddy Ross from the left circle, 1:18 elapsed to lift the Everett Silvertips to a 3-2 victory in sudden death overtime over the Seattle Thunderbirds, running the table at the Delta Hotels Preseason Classic on Sunday night in downtown Everett.
The Silvertips fought off a go-ahead, shorthanded goal by Keltie Jeri-Leon in the third period and tied the game on Gage Goncalves' late tally, before Seeley's snipe for his second overtime point in three games. Jake Christiansen - set to depart after the weekend for St. Louis Blues training camp, logged a goal and a pair of assists. Braden Holt picked up the win in his pre-season debut with 25 stops.
Brendan Williamson's power play goal put Seattle up 1-0 just 1:27 into the first period, finishing a backdoor play from Mathew Wedman. At 9:11, Christiansen tied the game when he walked into the slot and buried a snap shot through traffic.
Both teams played through a tie game in the second period with Holt coming up with a big save on Reid Schaefer's attempt on a two-on-one break at the left circle.
Jeri-Leon put Seattle up 2-1 on a shorthanded goal at the 7:43 mark of the third period, following a face-off win at the right circle which set up his snap shot for his first preseason goal. Goncalves tied the game with 2:41 left in regulation on a rebound at the right post, set up from Christiansen's one-timed blast at the high slot.
Christiansen then set up Seeley's break out of the Silvertips zone in overtime. Seeley picked up speed through the neutral zone and uncorked a snap shot past Roddy Ross at the inside of the left circle, sending the Silvertips off the bench to celebrate with 1:18 off the clock.
Ross, making his pre-season debut, turned in a 43 save effort and Seattle went 2-0-1 in three games at the Tips pre-season tournament.
NOTES: The Silvertips scratched Martin Fasko-Rudas (injury), Jackson Berezowski, Conrad Mitchell, Jack Lambert, Ty Gibson, Wyatte Wylie (Flyers training camp), Aidan Sutter, and goaltender Keegan Karki ...
