This Saturday night marks the 28th home opener in Wildcats franchise history - and probably one of most anticipated!
On the ice, we've got talented newcomers Caleb Desnoyers (2023 1st overall), Shawn Carrier (2023 6th overall) and Vincent Collard (2 GP, 3G), mixing with our veteran core of Yoan Loshing, Miles Müller, Oscar Plandowski and Jacob Steinman. The results so far have been eye-popping - 2 wins in 2 games with 13 goals scored, while allowing just 1. And that's without last year's co-leading scorer and team MVP Etienne Morin in the squad. Morin is currently at Calgary Flames training camp.
Off the ice, it's just as exciting. The puck drops at 7pm but head to the Avenir Centre for 4pm for the party on the Oval. We've got Wild Willie & bouncy castles for the kids, live music from the The Thirsty Rangers & DJ Psycadelix, plus a Moosehead Light beverage & food area.
The Avenir Centre doors open at 6pm; once inside you can groove to The Mellotones in the ice bar or check out fiddler Samantha Robichaud in the lobby. Our own Lynden Steeves will be on the Wildcats organ. We'll host the archrival Halifax Mooseheads, who ended our playoff campaign in Round 2 last year and advanced to the QMJHL Final before falling to Remparts. The Mooseheads haven't started strong - dropping 2 games to Charlottetown - but their lineup is solid and could get an injection of NHL training camp returnees before Saturday, including QMJHL MVP Jordan Dumais.
