Fifteen games into the inaugural season, your Lakeshore Chinooks are one game out of first place in the division, behind only the La Crosse Loggers. The Chinooks currently own a 9-6 record and are coming off a 1-0 win over the Green Bay Bullfrogs Wednesday night. Carson Beauchaine (Saginaw Valley State) improved to 2-0 in his second start of the season, pitching 6 scoreless innings.
Bre' Kimbell (Louisiana Tech) and Eric Aguilera (Illinois State) have been leading the offense as both are batting over the .300 mark with a combined 32 hits. Kimbell went 2-for-4 in his last game while also hurling a strike to home from right field to throw out the base runner.
A total of three Chinooks players were drafted this year in the MLB FIrst Year Player Draft. Eric Semmelhack (UW-Milwaukee) was drafted and signed with the Milwaukee Brewers in the 12th round, Joe Greenfield (South Suburban) was drafted by the Boston Red Sox in the 22nd round, and Keaton Steele (Missouri) was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 29th round.
The more than 8,000 fans who attended home games this season have experienced more entertainment than just great baseball! Celebrities such as baseball legends Robin Yount and Bob Uecker, movie star Cozi Zuehlsdorff (Dolphin Tale), football legend LeRoy Butler, and Olympic gymnast Chellsie Memmel (TONIGHT!) have all come out to support the Chinooks and sign autographs for fans.
