Windsor Express News Release
(WINDSOR, ON) Three players finished with over 20 points and the Windsor Express avenged a loss last week with a 123-118 victory over the Mississauga Power at the Hershey Centre on Tuesday night.
Chris Commons (29), Tony Bennett (23) and Gary Gibson (21) lifted the Express to their second straight win, improving their record to 9-2.
Gibson also added 10 rebounds and 9 assists to nearly complete the triple-double.
Windsor lost 100-99 at the Hershey Centre last Sunday, but jumped on Mississauga early in this contest, outscoring them 30-20 in the first quarter.
The lead expanded to 62-47 at halftime, but the Power came out hot in the third quarter.
Mississauga, who trailed by as many as 19 points in the third, actually took an 87-86 lead into the fourth quarter, stuffing the Express 35-15 for the rest of the frame.
A back and fourth final quarter witnessed Windsor take the lead back to as wide as nine points, before the Power tightened it back up to one with just under two minutes to go.
Free throws were what hindered the Express in their last game in Mississauga, shooting 48.5% as a team, but down the stretch tonight Windsor converted on their final 12 shots from the charity stripe to seal the win.
The win moves Windsor four games up on the 3rd place Power and extends their lead in the division to two full games over the idle London Lightning.
Windsor continues their GTA tour on Friday, December 19th with a visit to the Powerade Centre to face the Brampton A's at 7:00pm.
The next home game is Saturday, December 27th, against Mississauga at 7:00pm at the WFCU Centre.
