Montreal Juniors News Release

VICTORIAVILLE, THURSDAY, OCTOBER 21ST 2010- The Montreal Juniors came to Victoriaville trying to build on their solid win last Wednesday against the P.E.I. Rockets. Solid play from their goaltender Etienne Marcoux and by David Rose leaded Montreal to a 4-3 win over the Tigres.

Both teams played a high octave first period scoring five goals between them. Guillaume Goulet scored first for the Tigres at 5:04. Montreal evened the game some 30 seconds later with Louis Leblanc's seventh goal of the year. Jrmy Gouchie scored twice for Montreal at 6:45 and 13:23 on a power play. The other Victoriaville scorer was Brandon Hynes who scored his tenth goal of the year at 8:25.

As much as the first period was an offensive affair, the second period saw both teams play more conservatively. Montreal only allowed two shots on goal and Victoriaville relied on great goaltending by their backup Antonio Mastropietro. David Rose was the only Montreal scorer, beating Mastropietro at 13:36.

Victoriaville struck first in the third frame with a Yannick Dub goal, his first of the year at 3:50. The Juniors goalie Etienne Marcoux was dominant for the rest of the period stopping the other ten shots he faced.

The Juniors will now have two days off before travelling to Drummondville to meet with the Voltigeurs at 4:00 pm on the 24th of October 2010.
