Green Bay Blizzard News Release
The Green Bay Blizzard hosted the 2ns Annual Women's Football Camp on Tuesday night, and the response was overwhelming. Presented by St. Mary's Hospital A Woman's Place and YOU Magazine, the nearly 75 participants were treated to hands-on instruction by Blizzard coaches, players and training staff.
When the Blizzard camp debuted in 2005, the reaction was very positive. Fans and media came out to participate in an authentic Arena Football practice, as well as take part in passing, receiving, kicking, returning and blocking drills. This year, there were more than twice the number of campers and even more media than last year.
This year, Blizzard Trainer Mike LaMere also put on a true "training camp," showing the ladies how the players prepare to play by taping ankles, wrists, knees and shoulders. This year also featured a greater spectrum of ages. The youngest camper was 18, and the oldest was a very young 71 - and it was her second consecutive year taking part!
Everyone that took part in the camp received a good bag, compliments of St. Mary's Hospital, and a ticket to this weekend's game against the Macon Knights. The Blizzard returns home this weekend after two weeks on the road to take on the Knights on Saturday, May 13th. It is "Ladies Night," presented by St. Mary's Hospital A Woman's Place and YOU Magazine, and fans will receive green and silver wrist pom-pons as they enter the Resch Center.
Tickets for SATURDAY NIGHT'S GAME ARE STILL AVAILABLE!! For more information, contact the Blizzard office at 405-1264.
