Odessa Jackalopes News Release

(Odessa, TX) - Before heading to Colorado, the Odessa Jackalopes used a day off yesterday to spread the holiday cheer throughout the Permian Basin.

Jackalopes players, staff, and mascot, Slapjack, visited seven different locations in the Midland/Odessa community for their second annual "Holiday Tour". Slapjack spent the morning with children at Daystar Nursery. In the afternoon, Dominic Leveille and Sebastien Thinel delivered toys for the Salvation Army's Toy Drive. Jean Bourbeau, Jeff Pierce, and Mike Lesperance rang the bell and asked for donations for the Salvation Army. Garrett Gruenke and Patrick Mbaraga closed the tour by spending time at the Boys and Girls club here in the Permian Basin.

The team also visited a pair of retirement homes and a soup kitchen during the day.

The Jackalopes would like to thank those who helped organize this year's tour and made it a success again. The Jackalopes are already looking forward to next year's event.

The Odessa Jackalopes are the Central Hockey League affiliate for the NHL's New York Islanders and the AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers. The team is in the middle of their 13th season in the Permian Basin. Season tickets, mini-plans, and single game tickets are available by calling (432) 552-PUCK or visiting jackalopes.org.
