Erie SeaWolves News Release
would like to take a moment to thank everyone who attended the Hot Stove Dinner on Wednesday at the Avalon Hotel! Detroit Tigers centerfielder Curtis Granderson (SeaWolves 2004) was great speaker and even took questions from the audience. It's great to see such a genuinely good person make it in Big Leagues. Tigers' Minor League Pitching Coordinator and former 13-year Major League pitcher Jon Matlack was also entertaining and informative as well as Mandalay Baseball VP Rich Neumann. It was a great night of fun and insight as we get ready for baseball season!
In the coming weeks you can look forward to announcements on several other SeaWolves events including SeaWolves Fan Fest, the opening day of ticket sales, our mascot C. Wolf participating in several events including the St. Patrick's Day parade, and of course information on Opening Day April 5!
Think warm thoughts!

A NIGHT TO REMEMBER
Jim LeCorchick hosted our annual dinner at the Avalon Hotel. Click the picture of Curtis Granderson for more on this great night of baseball!
It's not every day that folks in Erie get to meet Major League athletes, especially in a very relaxed environment. Granderson joked with fans, signed just about everything in site, and even doled out some hugs for those he had not seen since his days in Erie. He joins Todd Zeile, Joel Zumaya, Justin Verlander, John Lackey, John Lynch, Jose Guillen, and Aramis Ramirez as players that have had success on the Major League level after getting their start in Erie.

WINTER LEAGUE BASEBALL
While some baseball players head south for the winter to golf, relax, and visit with family. Some head a little further south - to the Venezuelan Winter League. The VWL in addition to the Dominican Winter League, features a mix of big league stars and up and coming minor league talents. This season, four players in the Tigers organization had the opportunity to partake in the VWL. Two big leaguers in Omar Infante and Wilfredo Ledezma and two minor leaguers David Espinosa (Toledo in 2006) and Jackson Melian (Erie in 2006). All four players have one thing in common, they are all former Erie SeaWolves. Here is how each of the players has fared:
SS Omar Infante -- Although Leones del Caracas didn't make it to the finals, Infante had a nice run in the postseason. He topped the league in the postseason with a .408 average while driving in eight runs in 12 games.
LHP Wilfredo Ledezma -- After a slow start, Ledezma bounced back with three solid relief appearances for Leones del Caracas, scattering three hits over 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Overall, Ledezma went 0-1 with a 3.00 ERA in four appearances. He was charged with one run on three hits and four walks in three innings.
OF David Espinosa -- Espinosa has not appeared in the playoffs for Magallanes after batting .239 with nine RBIs and seven runs scored in 21 games during the regular season.
OF Jackson Melian -- Melian went 7-for-36 (.194) with no homers, four RBIs and five runs scored for Cardenales de Lara and has not participated in postseason play.
