Akron, Ohio - Brandon Douglas was a home run shy of the cycle and starting pitcher Ramon Garcia continued his mastery of the Akron Aeros as the Erie SeaWolves (37-38) won their sixth straight road game with an 8-5 victory at Canal Park in Akron Tuesday night.

The Aeros took the lead in the bottom of the second inning on a Jeremie Rice RBI double to left field to make it 1-0. Garcia managed to pitch out of the jam and retired the next three batters to get out of the inning.

Douglas led off the top of the third inning with his third triple of the season, and scored on an RBI ground out to second by Michael Rockett to tie the game at one.

The SeaWolves then took the lead in the fourth and never gave it up, as Jordan Lennerton broke the tie by scoring on a wild pitch from Giovanni Soto. Douglas later doubled in Rawley Bishop for his 28th run batted in of the season to make it 3-1, Erie.

Garcia mowed down 13 batters in a row, a streak that was stopped with one out in the bottom of the sixth on a solo home run to center field by Juan Diaz.

Soto exited after six innings for Akron, giving up three earned runs on four hits and four walks while striking out four SeaWolves. In came Bryan Price, and the SeaWolves took advantage in the top of the seventh with three runs. Jamie Johnson lined a double down the left field line to score Douglas for his 20th RBI of the season. Niuman Romero quickly followed with a two-run blast over the right center field fence for his fifth home run of the season, giving the SeaWolves a 6-2 lead into the seventh inning stretch.

The Aeros came within three with a run in the seventh, but it was matched by Bishop's seventh home run of the season during the top of the eighth to make it 7-3, Erie. Thomas Neal continued the slugfest with a two-run homer to center field to put Akron within two runs after eight innings.

Rockett scored on a wild pitch by Rob Bryson in the ninth inning to give Erie more insurance and give the SeaWolves an 8-5 lead. Bruce Rondon then pitched a perfect ninth inning for his third save of the season.

Garcia (6-6) was sensational for Erie, as he earned his fourth win in four starts against the Aeros this season. Garcia pitched for seven innings, giving up three earned runs on five hits and striking out eight, tying a season high. The lefty showed great control as he did not walk a batter. Soto (5-4) took the loss for the Aeros.

Douglas and Bishop were each 3-for-4 for the SeaWolves, who continue their road trip Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. against the Aeros. Listen to all the action on Fox Sports Radio AM 1330 The FAN or online at SeaWolves.com.
