December 22, 2019 - Major Arena Soccer League (MASL)
Orlando SeaWolves News Release
Orlando, FL -ÃÂ In the second game of a back-to-back at home, the Orlando SeaWolves took on the Baltimore Blast and in the dying seconds of the game, pulled out their first win of the season, winning 5-4 in Kissimmee at the Silver Spurs Arena.
Orlando set the tone early in the game by scoring first, thanks to Luiz Mota's second goal of the weekend. Vini Dantas would equalize just two minutes later with a strike into the corner, then Tony Donatelli would put Baltimore up 2-1 with a shot of his own.
The second quarter was all SeaWolves. Roy Kaufmann scored his first MASL goal to tie the match up at 2-2, then Omar Tapia finished off a picture-perfect counter-attack to put Orlando back in front. Luiz Mota would add his second of the game moments before halftime to send the SeaWolves to the locker room with a 4-2 lead.
The third quarter was a defensive showing by Orlando, stopping many a chance by Baltimore, but eventually, the Blast found the back of the net through Andrew Hoxie to pull the away side within one. Mohamed Ndiaye would tie the game up in the 4th quarter as all signs pointed to overtime.
However, with just about a minute to go in the game, Gui Ribeiro found space down low in the attack, passed it off to Omar Tapia and the forward struck it far post to put Orlando ahead 5-4 with seconds remaining on the clock.
Fernando Cortes, who played the whole match in goal, came up with some crucial stops down the stretch and Ian Chacon came into the game for the final seconds to finish it out and seal Orlando's first win of the season.
Orlando will have the holiday's off and will return at the beginning of January as they take on the Kansas City Comets in Missouri. Kickoff is set for January 10th at 8:05 p.m.
