The SeaWolves were shut out on just one hit on Friday night as they dropped the series opener to the Altoona Curve 2-0 at People's Natural Gas Field.

Altoona jumped ahead in the bottom of the first against Erie starter Austin Kubitza. Keon Broxton led off the inning with a double to left and moved to third on a wild pitch. With one out, Josh Bell singled up the middle, plating Broxton for a 1-0 lead.

In the sixth, Broxton led off with a single and advanced to third on a Max Moroff base hit. Bell hit into a fielder's choice, scoring Broxton for a 2-0 lead.

Curve starter and top Pirates prospect Tyler Glasnow was brilliant, tossing six scoreless frames. Erie's James Robbins broke up a perfect game in the fifth with a single up the middle for the 'Wolves lone hit. Robbins extended his hitting streak to five straight games.

Erie would get baserunners in the seventh, eighth and ninth innings on walks. The 'Wolves lone baserunner to get into scoring position was in the seventh. Jeff McVaney led off with a walk, moved to second on a wild pitch and to third on a groundout.

Erie's starter Kubitza (1-1) was impressive as well tossing a complete game, allowing two runs on 10 hits with no walks and five strikeouts but comes out on the short end of the pitchers' duel.

The SeaWolves have now lost 10 straight games.
