August 23, 2007 - ECHL (ECHL)
Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release

BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced on Thursday the signing of forward Bill Kinkel. Per club policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

"Bill Kinkel is a guy that I had gotten a good look at over the past couple of seasons, and knew I wanted to bring to Mississippi," said Sea Wolves head coach Steffon Walby. "He is a rare player in that he has tremendous size and physical ability, and can play tough in the corners and in front of the net, and beyond that is a tremendously community-minded player."

A Buffalo, N.Y.-native, Kinkel split last season between the ECHL's Florida Everblades and Utah Grizzlies. In 25 games with Florida, Kinkel accrued 95 penalty minutes, and in 22 appearances with Utah, the 6-5, 239-pounder scored six goals and earned 72 penalty minutes. In 2005-06, Kinkel spent the entire season with the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League, scoring three goals and three assists with 190 penalty minutes in 56 appearances. Selected in the 9th Round (#281 Overall) by the New Jersey Devils in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, Kinkel began his professional career in 2005-06 with the ECHL's Pensacola Ice Pilots, skating in 30 games with three goals, one assist, and 180 penalty minutes, and also appeared in 12 games with Houston, scoring three goals.

Kinkel will join the team after completing fire service training in Ft. Myers, Florida, where he currently resides. He is expected to join the team in training camp on October 6.

"I always enjoyed my visits to Mississippi when I played for Pensacola two seasons ago," stated Kinkel. "The fans are great, and I'm looking forward to coming down and playing in front of them this season."

On Saturday, October 27th the Sea Wolves will celebrate their return to home ice as the team begins their 10th season in pursuit of the ECHL's Kelly Cup. Season tickets are now on sale and sponsorship packages are available by calling 228.275.WOLF (9653).
