Alaska Aces News Release

ANCHORAGE, Alaska - The Alaska Aces have agreed to terms with goaltender Kris Tebbs and defenseman Felipe Larranaga on one-year deals for the 2007-08 season.

Tebbs, who turned 26 two weeks ago, spent two seasons as Derek Gustafson's understudy with the Adirondack Frostbite of the United Hockey League, accumulating a 37-18-3 record with two shutouts to go along with a 2.80 goals against average and a .903 save percentage. A native of Calgary, he split last season between Elmira and Bloomington in the UHL, finishing with a 19-25-1 record, a 3.66 GAA, and a .894 save pct. The 5-10, 165-pound Tebbs played at the University of Nebraska-Omaha, NCAA Division I members of the CCHA, between 2002-05, finishing with a 2-6-2 record and a 3.61 GAA and an .882 save percentage in 10 decisions with the Mavericks.

Larranaga returns stateside for next season after three years overseas, two of which were spent in Denmark and one in Norway. He won a championship in the Danish league in 2006. The 26-year-old Fairbanks native also returns to Alaska, where he played four years of college, scoring 77 points on 15 goals on 62 assists in 144 career games for the Nanooks. Larranaga actually registered the first point of his pro career with an assist for Fresno in a 3-2 shootout win over Alaska on March 30, 2004, during a brief, seven-game stint with the Falcons after his college career came to an end. At UAF, he finished tied for the team lead in assists in each of his last two years and earned honorable mention recognition for the CCHA All-Rookie team as a freshman in 2001. Prior to his tenure with the Nanooks, the 5-8, 170-pounder spent two seasons in juniors in the USHL, totaling six goals and 34 assists in 107 games for Des Moines.

In 2006-07, Alaska became only the third team ever to record consecutive 100-point regular seasons, and earned a third straight trip to the conference finals, only the second ECHL team to do so. The first look at this year's team will come at Sullivan Arena October 10-11, with a pair of pre-season games against Texas, benefiting Breast Cancer Awareness and the Alaska chapter of the American Cancer Society. The Aces open next year on the road in Fresno on October 23, while their home opener has been scheduled for Friday, November 2, at 7:15 p.m., in the first of three games against American Conference finalist Florida.
