Seattle Storm Re-Sign Forward Alicia Thompson

SEATTLE – The WNBA Champion Seattle Storm today re-signed 6-1 forward Alicia Thompson to a contract, Storm Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Anne Donovan announced.

Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Thompson, entering her sixth season in the WNBA and second with the Storm, averaged 2.3 points in 23 games in 2004 and has a career scoring average of 6.0 points per game. After joining the Storm as a free agent on Feb. 10, 2004, Thompson helped the Storm win the 2004 WNBA Finals over the Connecticut Sun. She averaged 4.9 points and 1.9 rebounds in eight playoff games.

"Alicia was incredibly valuable to us last season," Donovan said. "She has many great attributes as a veteran player and teammate, and we are glad to have her return to the Storm."

Thompson, a former standout at Texas Tech where she is second on the all-time scoring list (2,156), previously played under Donovan with the Indiana Fever in 2000.

The Storm will open the 2005 WNBA season on Saturday, May 21 against Western Conference rival the Los Angeles Sparks at KeyArena.
