Seattle Storm and Pacific Science Center Partner to Ignite Curiosity
SEATTLE -Â The Seattle Storm and Pacific Science Center (PacSci) today announced a new partnership between the four-time Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) Champions and the nonprofit science institution, naming PacSci the first Official Science Partner of the Seattle Storm. Together, these iconic organizations will challenge youth and fans of all ages to explore science and innovation.
"We are thrilled to partner with Pacific Science Center for a first-of-its-kind partnership for the Seattle Storm," said Alisha Valavanis, Storm President and CEO. "With PacSci as our Official Science Partner, we will together undertake community work focusing on youth and STEM concepts. The partnership also provides the Storm with the Champions Center on the Seattle Center Campus, with doors opening to Storm fans and partners very soon."
As the Official Science Partner, PacSci will be the presenting partner of Storm Family Weekends-Storm games on Saturdays or Sundays throughout the 2022 season at the team's new home at Climate Pledge Arena. At pre-game activity stations, youth and curious minds of all ages will explore hands-on interactive activities about biology, geology, astronomy and many other STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) concepts. During Storm home games, PacSci will provide the "Science Moment of the Game," igniting fans' curiosity through current events in science such as solar eclipses, visible astronomy and geological events.
Additionally, the partnership allows the Storm exclusive use of the Champions Center, a unique space in PacSci designed to host fans, corporate partners and team events, throughout 2022.
"PacSci is very proud to be the Official Science Partner of the Seattle Storm and the site of the Storm's Champions Center," said Will Daugherty, President and CEO of Pacific Science Center. "Through our partnership, PacSci and the Seattle Storm will provide youth and families with high-impact STEM-oriented programs at Storm games, on the PacSci campus and throughout the region per our outreach programs."

StormAcademy, which celebrates the power in girls and women in the Puget Sound region through dynamic leadership programs, are girl-focused leadership and career sessions allowing girls to build community, explore STEM careers, and learn new skills.
