Seattle Reign FC News Release
SEATTLE (October 18, 2017) - Seattle Reign FC announced today that goalkeeper Haley Kopmeyer will be loaned to Canberra United FC of Australia's W-League during the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) offseason. Kopmeyer returns to the W-League after opting not to play last offseason. Previously, Kopmeyer played for the Brisbane Roar in 2015, her first stint in the W-League. This is Kopmeyer's first season with Canberra. "My first year in the W-League was instrumental to my development as a goalkeeper and being able to return a few years older, I hope to make a large impact," said Kopmeyer. "I've heard wonderful things about the club, it's professionalism and new coach in Heather [Garriock]. It's a perfect fit for this time in my career and I'm excited to help the team compete for the title."
During the course of the 2017 NWSL season, Kopmeyer appeared in a career high 20 matches, totaling 1800 mintues. Kopmeyer made 80 saves this season, and was the NWSL Player of the Week for her nine saves in week 1 against Sky Blue FC. The goalkeeper totaled two shutouts this year. Kopmeyer will return to Seattle prior to the start of the 2018 NWSL season.
