The Kelowna Rockets fell to the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-3 at the accesso ShoWare Center in Kent, WA on Tuesday night.
After surrendering the opening goal, Kelowna held a 2-1 lead heading into the final frame. Trading power play goals early on in the third, the Thunderbirds turned around and scored a pair of goals in the final minute of the game to take a 4-3 lead.
Matthew Rempe (13) tipped a puck past Rockets starter Talyn Boyko 12:02 into the game. With 15 seconds left in the opening frame Adam Kydd (11) tied up the game.
Mark Liwiski (17) redirected Jackson DeSouza's shot to give the Rockets their first lead of the game.
Reid Schaefer (26) and Gabriel Szturc (11) traded power play goals in the third. Lukas Svejkovsky (21) scored with 59 seconds to go in the game to tie it, Samuel Knazko (2) then scored with 12 seconds to go.
Boyko made 37 saves on 40 shots. The Thunderbirds outshot the Rockets 40-20.
Both teams were one-for-four with the power play.
The Rockets record now moves to 31-14-1-3.
The Rockets next game is Friday, March 4th when they host the Victoria Royals. Fans can purchase tickets online at selectyourtickets.com, at the Prospera Place box office or by phone at 250-762-5050. The box office is open 11:00 a.m. to 4:00p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and opens at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday home game days.
All fans attending Rockets games will need to abide by the BC Provincial Health Authority, Prospera Place and the Western Hockey League's COVID-19 health and safety requirements which includes masks, double vaccination and their vaccine card.
