Wilson, N.C. - The Wilson Tobs and the Coastal Plain League have come to a decision regarding the 2020 Tobs baseball season. These updates are in place to make sure the fans and players will be able to have a safe and enjoyable 2020 season.

The Coastal Plain league has released the following statement in regards to the 2020 CPL Season, "The Coastal Plain League has closely monitored the COVID-19 announcements of the Federal, State and Local Authorities in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia and has delayed the CPL's 2020 season start until July 1.

Depending on governmental guidelines, teams may begin to form in mid-June to prepare for the season and may play some exhibition games in June. It is expected that this schedule will allow the league's teams and host cities to properly prepare to give the fans and the country's finest collegiate baseball players a safe and enjoyable environment. We look forward to an exciting 2020 baseball season."

The Tobs will be releasing a Preseason Spring Training schedule on a later date along with specific promotion dates. These decisions are based on the health concerns and safety needs of the players, our staff and our fans.

The Tobs will open the Coastal Plain League season with a bang on July 2nd with a Pregame Band and Post-Game Firework Show! We want to thank all our corporate partners, host families, fans, and staff for their support of the Tobs, we would not be able to exist without their help. The Wilson Tobs enter their 24th season as a founding member of the Coastal Plain League. The upcoming season for the Tobs will see an expanded community outreach effort, increased participation in helping the less fortunate, a Pettit Cup Championship team, and more exciting entertainment for the Wilson Community.

We would like to dedicate each successful season to the Wilson Community, Coastal Plain League Organization, Host Families, Corporate Partners and the dedicated fans throughout the city of Wilson. The Wilson Tobs have played host to over 100 alumni taken in the draft and have produced a dozen players who have gone on to play in the MLB including Cy Young & MVP Winner Just Verlander.
