Wenatchee AppleSox News Release
The 12th season of Wenatchee AppleSox baseball opens tonight with the start of a three-game weekend home series against the Kitsap BlueJackets. First pitch tonight and Saturday are set for 7:05 pm. Sunday's game starts at 6:05 pm. Opening night is sponsored by Farmers Insurance and fans can pick up a free schedule magnet courtesy of Clean Connection. Come out to the ballpark and cheer on your defending West Coast League Champions!
Tickets can be purchased in advance at the Town Toyota Center Box Office or click here to purchase them online. Tickets are always available at the stadium when the gate opens an hour before the game.
Fans can hear all the action to every AppleSox game, home or away, on the team's radio home 560 KPQ AM. Games can also be streamed online for free through the station's website www.kpq.com. Pregame coverage begins 20 minutes before each game.
Sonic Drive-In Brings Back Strikeout Socks
After a two year hiatus the AppleSox strikeout socks are back by popular demand thanks to the new "Ten Strikeouts for a Sonic Slushy" promotion sponsored by Sonic Drive-In. Fans may remember the strikeout socks promotion that was put on hiatus after the 2008 season.
"Our fans asked about the socks the last two years," said general manager Jim Corcoran. "Like hot dogs, bleachers and scoreboards, a clothes line with big socks hanging from it is just another important part of our baseball experience in Wenatchee".
Every time an AppleSox pitcher strikes out an opposing batter, an AppleSox sock is hung on a clothes line between the press box and the backstop. If the AppleSox pitching staff combines to strike out ten batters in a home game, every fan in attendance will receive a coupon for a free Sonic slushy or cherry limeade.
Coyote Gets Ready for the Season
Nobody is more excited for the AppleSox season to start tonight then the team's mascot Coyote! Like all of the AppleSox players, he has to get in shape and ready to go for opening night. Click here to watch this video of Coyote getting pumped up for the 2011 season. The Coyote video is on the AppleSox new YouTube Channel, which will be updated with new videos throughout the summer. AppleSox Add Subway to Ballpark Menu
The AppleSox are teaming up with Subway to offer fans an exciting new food option at Paul Thomas Sr. Field this summer. 6-inch Subway sandwiches have been added to the Red Lion concession stand menu and will be available at every AppleSox home game.
"Subway sandwiches will be a new healthy item for fans to choose from at the park", said AppleSox general manager Jim Corcoran. "And we appreciate Subway stepping up to be another new AppleSox sponsor".
In addition to offering sandwiches at the ballpark, Subway has made a three-year commitment, along with the Nickel Ads, to sponsor the AppleSox annual Youth Instructional Clinics. Registration forms for the three youth clinic sessions are available at all four Wenatchee Valley locations, along with Chelan and Omak.
Bleacher Buddies Back at Paul Thomas Sr. Field
The popular "bleacher buddies" are back at Paul Thomas Sr. Field for every AppleSox game this summer. These popular items can be rented at our souvenir stand for just $2 each per game. Each one provides a cushioned seat and a comfortable back that will make your experience at the ballpark even better!
