July 14, 2005- The Williamsport Crosscutters (11-12) scored seven runs in the eighth inning, to break open a close game at KeySpan Park, en route to a 9-3 victory over the Cyclones (13-9). The big blow came on a Ryan Searge grand slam that put the âCutters ahead for good.
Orlando Rengel did not have complete control, but he pitched well again for the Cyclones. In five innings of work, Rengel gave up one run, which was unearned, on one hit, while walking three and striking out two. He has a 1.96 ERA so far this season, but has been unable to come away with a decision thus far. Kyle Risinger (1-1) got the loss for Brooklyn. In 2.1 innings, Kyle gave up four runs, all earned, on four hits, while walking two and striking out one.
Joe Holden was the offensive star for Brooklyn. In his first start at leadoff, Joe went 4-4 with two triples and an RBI. He scored both two of the three Cyclone runs. Kyle Brown was credited with the other RBI when he knocked in Holden with a single in the eighth.
