Edmonton Capitals News Release
Edmonton, AB - The Victoria Seals had their way with the Capitals on Saturday night handing the Caps a 12-4 loss. The Seals had twenty-two hits on the night as every batter in the Victoria lineup except for lead-off hitter Wilver Perez had at least one hit.
Trevor Caughey did not have his best stuff on the mound as he gave up eleven runs on seventeen hits pitching into the seventh inning. Caughey (1-2, 5.55 ERA) took the loss while Roberto Sotolongo (2-1, 2.41 ERA) received the win in five innings of relief.
Victoria jumped out to an 11-2 lead by the fifth inning with a 2-run second, four-run third and five-run fifth. The Capitals responded with a 2-RBI single from Aaron Hornostaj that scored Norm Hutchins and Chad Ehrnsberger and a Jorge Cortes home run but it was too little, too late for the home team.
The Capitals will wrap-up their series with Victoria on Signature Sunday at 2:00pm at TELUS Field. Dogs will take over the stadium as fans will have a chance to take in a game with their canine pet for Bark in the Park. A portion of the ticket proceeds will be donated to the Edmonton Humane Society.
Tickets for all Capitals home games are available at the Capitals Box Office, any TicketMaster location, by calling 780-414-GOAL (4625) or by visiting CapsBaseball.ca.
