July 11, 2009 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Tucson Toros News Release

Long Beach, CA-The Tucson Toros began their 7-game roadtrip with an 8-4 victory over the Long Beach Armada Friday. Tucson extracted revenge on Armada starting pitcher Jose Lima, who beat the Toros during their last homestand, scoring 5 runs off of the righty this time to hand Lima his fifth loss of the season. Lorenzo Barcelo improved to 5-4 with six strong innings, allowing four with four strikeouts.

Shortstop Ryan Priddy raked out of the ninth spot in the lineup, going 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and an RBI. Designated Hitter Jim Rushford continued swinging a hot stick on the road with two hits in five at bats and is not hitting .376 this season.

After allowing two runs in the bottom the sixth, Barcelo exited with the game tied 4-4, but the Toros scored in the top of the seventh and the bullpen threw three scoreless innings to secure the win. Relievers Toby Nordman, Rene Garcia and Reid Price combined to allow just two baserunners while striking out four.

The Toros and Armada will face each other again Saturday in the second game of the four game series. A linked feed of the Long Beach broadcast will be available at www.tucsontoros.com.
