Portland Beavers News Release
KIRKLAND, WASH. - The Seattle Seahawks will travel to Portland, Oregon, Saturday, August 7, to participate in "Seahawks Live" highlighted by an intra-squad practice and scrimmage at PGE Park. Included will be a day full of events and activities for the whole family.
"We're excited to bring the team to Portland," said Seahawks Head Coach Mike Holmgren. "This is a great opportunity because there are not only great football fans in Oregon, but die-hard Seahawks fans,"
"Seahawks Live" will kick off with a Gatorade Jr. Training Camp, open to youth ages 8-15, Saturday morning. Participants will have the chance to work hands on with Seahawks alumni and local high school coaches to learn football fundamentals, techniques and skills. Youth ages 8-15 must register and may do so by logging onto www.seahawks.com/community
Touchdown City, which will be located on Morrison Street adjacent to PGE Park, will be open to the entire family Saturday morning. Here, fans will have the chance to test their football skills with interactive inflatable games, get autographs from former NFL players from the surrounding area, meet Blitz, and enjoy several Sea Gals performances among other exciting activities.
The highlight of the day will be an hour-and-a-half practice and scrimmage by the Seahawks. The team will arrive Saturday morning from their training camp home at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Washington, where they will be preparing to make another run into the playoffs after a successful 10-6 record in 2003.
Following the scrimmage, youth ages 8-15 will be invited onto the field to participate in various agility and skill stations. "Seahawks Live" concludes with a live concert in the Plaza by one of Portland's hottest bands.
Tickets will be available free of charge on a first-come, first-serve basis beginning July 5. Only 15,000 tickets will be distributed and there is a limit of four tickets per adult. Details regarding "Seahawks Live" ticket distribution partners will be released closer to July 5.
One of the newest members of the Seahawks, defensive end Grant Wistrom, will be tossing the first pitch at the Portland Beavers versus Fresno Grizzlies game at PGE Park Thursday night, June 3, slated for 7:05 p.m. He will be available to all media before and during the game.
