
Seager, Shaffer Lead Generals To First Win

PEARL, MISS. - Kyle Seager drove in Jake Shaffer three times on Friday night as the Jackson Generals defeated the Mississippi Braves, in ten innings, 3-2. With two outs, in the top of the 10th, Seager plated Shaffer with a single that was the game winning run. Seager and Shaffer combined for six of the Generals eight hits. Jackson won their first game of the season in front of 4,168 fans at Trustmark Park.
Steven Hensley took a no decision in his first start of the season for the Generals. Hensley dealt five innings and allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out five. 31 year-old Scott Patterson fired a perfect ninth and tenth to earn his first victory of the season. Braves starter Brett Olberholtzer received a no decision allowing one run in six innings on the hill. Rowdy Hardy surrendered the Generals run in the tenth and took the loss for the M-Braves.,
Olberholtzer needed just 19 pitches through the first two innings, but ran into some trouble in the third. Jake Shaffer opened the inning with a double and came around to score on a single from Kyle Seager. The Generals led 1-0.
Hensley surrendered three consecutive hits to open the bottom of the fifth and the M-Braves tied the game at 1-1 on an RBI single from Jordan Kreke. The single plated former Diamond Jaxx outfielder, Gavin Dickey.
The Braves broke the tie in the bottom of the sixth. Donell Linares singled in Tyler Pastornicky to give the Braves their first lead at 2-1.
Seager delivered his second RBI of the night in the top of the eighth inning, once again plating Shaffer. The Generals knotted it up again at 2-2.
With two outs in the top of the 10th it was for the third time Kyle Seager that plated Jake Shaffer with a single. Shaffer doubled to open the inning.
The Generals send RHP Erasmo Ramirez to the mound on Friday night at Trustmark Park for his Double-A denut. He will be opposed by Braves RHP Paul Clemens. The game begins at 6:05 on Saturday night.
