Mississippi Sea Wolves News Release
BILOXI, Miss. - Mississippi Sea Wolves head coach and director of hockey operations Steffon Walby announced today that the team has re-signed right wing Nick Greenough (GREEN-oh).
Greenough, 24, enters his third year with Mississippi and fifth professional season. The 6-foot-4 and 225-pound Greenough netted a career high eight regular season goals in 2004-05, by scoring three with the Reading Royals of the ECHL in 37 games and five markers for Mississippi in 13 contests. A native of Windsor, Nova Scotia, Greenough was reacquired by the Sea Wolves in a trade with Reading on March 13 and finished with eight points (3g-5a), while accumulating 74 penalty minutes.
In the 2005 Kelly Cup Playoffs, Greenough picked up a goal and an assist along with 11 penalty minutes in four games. Greenough, who started his professional career with Mississippi in 2001-02, opened last season with the Augusta Lynx of the ECHL appearing in five games and totaling 24 penalty minutes.
"I am really excited to be coming back to Mississippi," said Greenough. "Steffon Walby is going to be a great head coach and I am looking forward to playing for him. I want to bring a physical presence, contribute offensively and help the team contend for a Kelly Cup."
"Nick was rejuvenated when he returned to the team last season," said Walby. "He showed toughness and skill, especially in front of the net on the power play. Greenough brings tons of character to our team and will be a key commodity to our organization with the new faces this season. He had other ECHL offers, but decided to return to the team that believes in him the most."
Greenough is the eighth Mississippi player to sign for the upcoming season joining Casey Bartzen, Anthony Battaglia, Chris Cava, Matt Craig, Lucas Drake, Olivier Filion and Jay Legault.
Mississippi opens its 10th Anniversary season on the road at Pensacola on Friday, October 22.
