Scott Trask and Cole MacMillan had the goals for the Wildcats, while Simon Jodoin chipped in two assists. Gleeson turned away 36 shots in the Moncton goal.

Fresh off their 4-0 victory over Moncton on New Year's Eve, the Sea Dogs drew first blood in the first period when Kirkpatrick notched his 12th of the year on a power play at 15:07. Phillips and Jonathan Huberdeau picked up the assists.

Anthony extended the lead to 2-0 on another power play at 8:16 of the second period. Phillips and Kirkpatrick assisted on the goal, Anthony's 14th of the season.

The Dogs gave one back on a power play at 13:44 of the second. Scott Trask found the back of the net for his third goal of the season, from Thomas Flynn and Jodoin.

Saint John appeared to be on the way to holding the 2-1 lead when Cole MacMillan deflected Jodoin's high point shot past Piche at 15:55 of the third. The play was reviewed but the goal stood, drawing the score even at 2-2 and setting the stage for MacAulay's overtime winner.
