Portland Sea Dogs News Release
The Portland Sea Dogs return home from a seven-game road trip against the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays) and the New Britain Rock Cats (Twins) to host a seven-game homestand against New Hampshire and New Britain. After this, the Sea Dogs host only two more homestands in the 2005 regular season.

DELCARMEN CALLED-UP TO THE BOSTON RED SOX Marc Deschenes Promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket
The Boston Red Sox called-up right-handed pitcher Manny Delcarmen to the Boston Red Sox from Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday. Delcarmen appeared in 31 games with the Sea Dogs this season before being promoted to Pawtucket on July 6. Delcarmen becomes the 119th Sea Dogs player to reach the Major Leagues. Sea Dogs right-handed pitcher Marc Deschenes was promoted to Triple-A Pawtucket taking Delcarmen's roster spot. No corresponding move has been announced to fill Deschenes spot on the Portland roster.
In his Major League debut on Tuesday he worked a perfect inning in Boston's 10-8 victory agasint the Devil Rays. delcarmen struck out the first batter he faced in the big leagues.
Delcarmen appeared in seven games for the Pawsox posting an 0-1 record with no saves and a 2.79 ERA. In 9.2 innings of work he struck out 14 batters and walked four.
In 31 games with the Sea Dogs Delcarmen posted a 4-4 record with 3 saves and a 3.23 ERA. In 39.0 innings of work he struck out 49 batters and walked 20. He was particularly tough on the road where he had an ERA of 1.48 and a 2-1 record with 2 saves. Delcarmen is rated as the #11 prospect in the Red Sox organization by Baseball America. Baseball America also rates Delcarmen as having the "Best Curveball" in the organization.
Delcarmen, a 23 year-old from Hyde Park, Massachusetts, was selected by the Red Sox in the June 2000 draft. He was added to the Red Sox 40-man roster on November 20, 2004.
Delcarmen is the second player form the Sea Dogs 2005 Opening Day roster to reach the Major Leagues. Cla Meredith joined the Red Sox in May before returning to Triple-A.
Deschenes appeared in 39 games for the Sea Dogs posting a 4-3 record with 8 saves and a 3.74 ERA. He struck out 54 batters and walked 24 in 43.1 innings pitched.
