Sea Dogs Name Christian Vermette Head Scout

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that longtime staff member Christian Vermette has been named the club's new Head Scout. Vermette, 39, replaces Norm Gosselin, who recently joined the amateur scouting staff of the NHL's Phoenix Coyotes.
"Christian has a great reputation throughout the hockey world and we're pleased to be promoting him to this new position within our organization," says Kelly.
Formerly an Assistant Coach with the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies, Vermette joined the Sea Dogs' scouting department in 2005. A native of Saint-Augustin-de-Desmaures, QC, Vermette has over 13 years of minor hockey coaching experience in his home province, a total which includes four seasons with the Lévis Commandeurs, two of which were spent as the powerhouse QCMAAA squad's Head Coach.
The 2010 edition of Sea Dogs Training Camp gets underway next Wednesday morning at Harbour Station. Saint John's exhibition schedule begins with an August 21 home game versus the Halifax Mooseheads (puck drop: 7pm).
