Saint John Sea Dogs News Release
SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have added yet another way for fans to connect with the No. 1 team in Canadian junior hockey.
The Sea Dogs have announced the launch of the Official Saint John Sea Dogs app for Apple iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch, developed by Buzzer Apps.
"Connecting with fans is a priority for our hockey club. Whether it's through a thrilling live game at Harbour Station, or simply making the latest Sea Dogs news and information available, we're always looking for ways to improve the fan experience," said Sea Dogs president Wayne Long. "We're proud to be launching this app, which puts the Sea Dogs literally in the palm of our fans' hands."
Available as a free download through the App Store, the app gives fans a direct connection to the latest Sea Dogs news. Schedule, roster and standings information are all available, along with a direct link to purchase tickets to upcoming games.
The app is one of several ways fans can connect with the Sea Dogs. In addition to the traditional website at saintjohnseadogs.com, the team is also active in engaging its fans on Twitter (@seadogshockey) and recently launched a new Facebook Page (www.facebook.com/sjseadogs).
"We encourage fans to follow us on Twitter and Facebook and to download the new app to make sure they are up on all the latest goings on with the team," Long said.
In other Sea Dogs news, Boston Pizza hosted the EA Sports NHL 11 Challenge Tuesday. Several Sea Dogs players and fans were in attendance for this video game component of the Brunswick News Rivalry Cup against the Moncton Wildcats. Due to technical problems, the Boston Pizzas in Moncton and Saint John were unable to connect for the head-to-head NHL 11 games. With the Rivalry Cup already decided in Saint John's favour, the teams agreed to split the eight points that were on the line.
The Saint John location instead hosted a mini-tournament with Sea Dogs players and fans. Dogs leading scorer Jonathan Huberdeau proved he's an ace at virtual hockey as well, taking the tournament with a 7-1 win over fellow forward Ryan Tesink in the final. Fans were treated to a variety of giveaways and prizes courtesy of Moosehead, Boston Pizza, EB Games and the Sea Dogs.
The Sea Dogs, named No. 1 in the Canadian Hockey League for the 10th straight week Wednesday, have a pair of exciting games coming up on the weekend.
With Irving Oil's Minor Hockey Night in Saint John set for Friday, Irving Oil is offering a special ticket price promotion to ensure Harbour Station will be packed.
Upper bowl tickets to Friday's against the Val-d'Or Foreurs will be available for only $5. The first 1,000 fans to order will be able to take advantage of this special price.
On Saturday the Sea Dogs will be paying tribute to the Saint John Flames, as they take on the Shawinigan Cataractes at 7 p.m. Special throwback jerseys will be worn by the players and auctioned off, and former Flames Marty Murray and Doug Doull will be in attendance, along with the Calder Cup and other memorabilia. Tickets can be obtained by calling the Harbour Station box office at (506) 657-1234, or by visiting www.tickets.harbourstation.ca.
