
Sea Dogs forward Payton Liske wins league award

SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Quebec Major Junior Hockey League held their annual Golden Puck Awards Ceremony earlier tonight in Montreal, with trophies being handed out to the 18-team circuit's top players in a variety of categories.
Graduating Saint John Sea Dogs forward Payton Liske was named the league's Scholastic Player of the Year at the gala event, capturing the Marcel Robert Trophy after a successful academic campaign in which he received excellent grades as an Economics major at the University of New Brunswick.
Liske, 20, also set career highs in goals (19), assists (26), and points (45) during his highly-successful overage season in the Port City.
Other winners from Wednesday night include Moncton goalie Nicola Riopel (Most Valuable Player), Drummondville blue-liner Dmitry Kulikov (Rookie of the Year, Top Professional Prospect, Best Defenseman), and Shawinigan forward Matthew Pistilli (Humanitarian of the Year).
