The first shot of the game was a dangerous one, as Maximilien Le Sieur broke in alone just over a minute in,
but DeSerres delivered a pad save to keep the game scoreless.
Galiev opened the scoring at 7:21 of the first. The Russian forward walked out from the left-wing boards and unloaded a shot from the faceoff cirle that beat Girard high to the blocker side. Phillips and Kevin Gagne drew the assists on the goal, which got Galiev to the 30-goal plateau.
Plante equalized at 9:08, poking in a rebound out of a scramble.
Phillips then put the Dogs back in front, going to the exact same place on Girard with a snapshot from the left-wing faceoff dot. Bourret and Steven Anthony assisted on the goal, the 34th of the year for Phillips.
Gelinas extended the lead to 3-1 at 11:14 of the second, firing a slapshot from the point that got through Girard thanks to Mike Thomas screening in front. Stephen MacAulay and Bourret assisted on the goal, the 12th of the year for Gelinas.
Bourret picked up his third assist on Jurco's goal at 13:31 of the second, thanks to a well-placed change-up wrist shot on net from the point. Jurco scooped up the rebound and shovelled it in with a backhand for his 29th of the year. Michael Kirkpatrick had the other assist.
Shawinigan cut the lead to 4-2 on the first shift of the third period when Poudrier buried a one-timer from the left-wing circle at the 20-second mark.
Galiev restored the three-goal lead with his 31st at 9:37 of the third, finishing a pass from Huberdeau to make it 5-2. Phillips had the other assist on the passing play.
Hache got Shawinigan back to within two at 9:59 but Phillips made it 6-3 on a 4-on-4 at 12:14. Off a faceoff to Dubeau's left, Phillips fired a shot from the top of the right-wing circle that beat the goaltender for his 35thof the year. Huberdeau was credited with the lone assist.
