Lewiston MAINEiacs News Release

Lewiston, ME (QMJHL) - The Lewiston MAINEiacs got off to a blazing hot start on Sunday afternoon, but didn't get the finish that they were looking for. Lewiston jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period, and extended the lead in the second, before watching the Drummondville Voltigeurs score five unanswered goals for a 5-4 comeback win in overtime in front of 2,241 fans at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Lewiston wasted little time in getting on the board, scoring just 54 seconds into the contest. Ian Saab's wrist shot from the point got blocked, but the rebound try was potted by Antoine Houde-Caron from the bottom of the right circle. Later in the period, the MAINEiacs struck again. While on the power play, Olivier Dame-Malka skated in toward the slot, before bombing a slap shot just inside of the left post. Before the period came to an end, the home team added another tally, as Matt Bissonnette set up Stefan Fournier on a 2-on-1 rush. Fournier fired a laser into the left side of the goal, giving the MAINEiacs a 3-0 lead after 20 minutes of play.

In the middle frame, Lewiston put a fourth marker on the board, as Jonathan Delorme turned the puck over to Antoine Houde-Caron. Houde-Caron wristed a shot over Domenic Graham's glove for his second goal of the game. Drummondville got one goal back in the second period, as Nicolas Dionne flipped the puck ahead to Simon Tardif-Richard, who put a backhander into the cage.

The momentum began to turn in the third period, as the Voltigeurs scored two goals in quick succession. Andre Bouvet-Morrissette rang a shot in off of the post for a two-goal deficit, before Sean Couturier's tally from the right circle brought the visitors to within one. With 5:19 remaining, Drummondville evened the score, as Bouvet-Morrissette deflected Remi Blanchard's point shot through Andrey Makarov.

Both teams received later power plays, beginning with Lewiston's man advantage with two minutes remaining in regulation. Unfortunately, the MAINEiacs came up empty, while the Voltigeurs capitalized with 16 ticks left in overtime. Sean Couturier slid a puck through from the left circle, giving the visitors the comeback win.

Domenic Graham earned the win for Drummondville, making 16 saves on 17 shots in relief of Guillaume Nadeau, who was pulled after allowing three goals on ten shots in the first period. Andrey Makarov took the overtime loss, despite making 36 saves on 41 shots.

The MAINEiacs will now head on the road for three games in three nights, beginning on Thursday night at 6:00, when they visit the Halifax Mooseheads. Lewiston's next home game takes place on March 11th at 7:30, when the Gatineau Olympiques make an appearance at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.
