
Sea Dogs Announce Teams And Events For 2010 Irving Oil Skills Competition

SAINT JOHN, NB --- The Saint John Sea Dogs have announced the teams and events which will comprise the 2010 Irving Oil Skills Competition, set to be staged on Monday, February 8 beginning at 6:30pm at Harbour Station. This event is open to the public, with News 88.9 FM radio personality Tim Roszell and Woodstock Bugle Observer columnist Dave Deline set to serve as co-hosts for the evening.
A total of five team events will take place at this year's competition: Fastest Skater (2 pts.), Accuracy Shooting (2 pts.), Agility Skating (1 pt.), Hardest Shot (1 pt.), and a Shootout (2 pts.). The winning team will be determined by whichever side earns four or more of the seven available points.

A special exhibition Breakaway Challenge will also be staged this year, with Tomas Jurco, Jonathan Huberdeau, Mike Hoffman, and Michael Kirkpatrick set to showcase their most creative penalty shot moves against guest goaltender Bruce Smith, Team Chaplain. These four offensive specialists will have one minute to score as many dazzling goals as possible, with the winner being determined by audience applause. The victorious competitor will receive a special prize as well as bragging rights over his teammates.
Currently leading the QMJHL's overall standings with a record of 42-8-1-0, the Sea Dogs' next game is scheduled to take place tomorrow night at 7:00pm versus the Mooseheads at the Halifax Metro Centre. Saint John's next home game will be played on Wednesday, February 10 at 7pm against Acadie-Bathurst. This match has been designated Homemade Noisemaker Night, with fans being encouraged to bring their most creative sound-emitting devices to the arena.
