SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs are proud to announce 25 players are expected to remain with the club for the second half of the 2017-18 season.

The roster will feature two goaltenders, eight defencemen and 15 forwards. That list includes six players who were recalled recently from midget or Jr. A teams, and one acquired in a trade. Six of the seven new additions are either 16 or 17 years old.

"It was very important to us, as an organization, to integrate younger players into our lineup in the second half of the season," said Sea Dogs President and General Manager Trevor Georgie. "We made changes during the holiday trade period that allowed us to do that. Our goal is to work these younger players into the lineup and continue to battle for a playoff spot. We're excited to bring their energy, enthusiasm and hard work to our team.

"We're also pleased we were able to add a multitude of draft picks for the coming seasons to aid in our rebuilding process."

Since December 12th, the Sea Dogs have acquired 12 draft picks, including three first-round selections and three second-round choices.

The following players joined the team via recall, but will stay for the remainder of the season:

Wilson, 16, began the season with the (Dartmouth) Steele Subaru Major Midgets of the Nova Scotia Major Midget Hockey League (NSMMHL), where he had 12 goals and 21 points. The Bedford, Nova Scotia, product was selected by Saint John in the ninth round (163rd overall) in the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft. He was recalled at the end of November, and has one goal and one assist in ten games with the Sea Dogs this season.

Mason, 17, played most of this season with the Pictou County Weeks Crushers of the Maritime Hockey League (MHL). The native of Stellarton, Nova Scotia, had eight goals and 13 points in 27 games for the Crushers, making him the team's highest-scoring rookie. He was selected by Saint John in the seventh round (123rd overall) of the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft. He has a +2 rating and one shot on goal in two games with the Sea Dogs.

MacIntosh, 16, had five goals and ten points in 28 games for the MHL's St. Stephen Aces, making him the team's highest-scoring rookie. The Moncton-native was selected by Saint John in the fourth round (63rd overall) of the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft. He has played three games with the Sea Dogs this season.

Reid, 18, began this season with the Sea Dogs before registering four goals and eight points in 11 games with St. Stephen. The Quispamsis-native was selected by Saint John in the seventh round (119th overall) of the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft. He has one assist in nine games with the Sea Dogs this year. He has played 18 games over the last three seasons.

Sibley, 16, had two goals and ten points in twenty games in his second season with Steele Subaru prior to his recall at the end of November. The Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, native was the first player selected by the Sea Dogs in the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft, in the third round, 52nd overall. He has one assist in eight games with the Sea Dogs.

Hungerbuhler, 17, signed as a free agent with Saint John last week. The native of Rosemere, Quebec, had five goals and 15 points in 32 games in his first season with the Montreal-Nord Arctic of the Ligue de Hockey Junior AAA du Quebec (LHJAAAQ). He attended training camp with the Sea Dogs, but did not appear in any preseason games.

Another addition to the team, forward Yohan Plamondon (2000-02-02), was acquired from the Val-d'Or Foreurs during the holiday trade period. The 17-year-old had eight goals and 13 points in 24 games this season for the Terrebonne Cobras of the Ligue de Hockey Junior AAA du Quebec (LHJAAAQ) this season.

Defenceman Samuel Duchesne was claimed on waivers Sunday by the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. The 18-year-old free-agent signee had one assist in 28 games in his only season with Saint John. The Sea Dogs wish Samuel all the best with Chicoutimi.
