Portland, Maine- The Portland Sea Dogs, Double-A Eastern League affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, have announced their 2012 schedule. The Sea Dogs will open the 2012 season on the road with a doubleheader at 4:05 PM on Thursday, April 5th against the Reading Phillies. The home opener is set for Thursday, April 12th at 6:00 PM against the Binghamton Mets. Individual tickets for the 2012 season will go on sale on Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 AM at the Hadlock Field Ticket Office.
The Eastern League season consists of 142 games (71 home and 71 away) against 11 opponents. The 2012 season will be the Sea Dogs 19th year in Portland and tenth as a Boston Red Sox affiliate.
The 2012 schedule features a light April (11 games) and May (13 games) schedule with just 24 of the 55 games being played at Hadlock Field resulting in 66% of the home games occurring after June 1st. The month of August features a season high 16 home games. Additionally 33 of the 71 home games will occur on weekends (Friday, Saturday, and Sunday).
Opponents highlighting the 2012 schedule will be 11 home games against the Trenton Thunder, Double-A affiliate of the New York Yankees. Additionally, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Blue Jays), the Sea Dogs neighbor to the south will make three trips to Hadlock Field in 2012 for a total of 11 games.
The Sea Dogs will be home on Patriot's Day (April 16th at 6:00 PM), Memorial Day (May 28th at 1:00 PM), and Labor Day (September 3rd at 1:00 PM). Although the Sea Dogs will not be home on the Fourth of July, the Sea Dogs are home on Tuesday, July 3rd at 6:00 PM; a game that will feature Fireworks.
Standard game times this year will remain the same. April and May weekday games will begin at 6:00 PM, while weekend games will be at 1:00 PM. In June, July, and August weekday games will start at 7:00 PM, Saturday's at 6:00 PM, and Sunday's at 1:00 PM. In addition, the Sea Dogs will play four games at 12:00 noon on weekdays; April 18th, June 7th, July 18th, and August 2nd.
Individual Tickets for the 2012 season will go on sale at the Hadlock Field Box Office on Saturday, November 5th at 9:00 AM. Phone & Internet orders will begin at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, November 5th. Season Tickets are currently on sale. Ticket prices will remain the same for the fifth consecutive season. Tickets are priced at $9.00 for Box seat tickets for adults, while seniors (62+) and children (16 and under) can have a Box seat for $8.00. Other seating options include Reserved seating, available at $8.00 for adults and $7.00 for kids and seniors. General Admission seats can be obtained at the economical price of $7.00 for adults and $4.00 for kids and seniors. Group rates are available for groups of 20 or more.
The 2012 schedule once again promises to be filled with many fun and exciting promotions. The schedule will feature five fireworks shows; May 18th, June 21st, July 3rd, July 25th, and August 16th. The annual Field of Dreams/ Fan Appreciation Day is set for September 2nd. A complete promotional schedule will be announced at a later date including bobblehead doll giveaways, appearances by traveling acts such as the ZOOperstars, theme nights, and more.
