SD Legion Push Bus for Rady

February 12, 2024 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
San Diego Strike Force News Release

San Diego, CA - In an inspiring display of strength and community spirit on Valentine's Day, the San Diego Legion Rugby Team, in partnership with Rady's Children's Hospital, is scrummaging up for a one-of-a-kind charity event at Snapdragon Stadium. Eight professional players from the San Diego Legion Rugby Team will unite in a remarkable feat of strength and push a metro bus weighing between 20,000 to 33,000 pounds (10 to 15 tons) for Rady's Children's Hospital.

The Legion scrum team will attempt to push the bus 40 feet, with donations of $500 to Rady's Children's Hospital every 10 feet, aiming for a maximum contribution of $2,000. Adding to the excitement, the bus will be filled with kids from the Imagine Rugby program from Escondido Union School District, symbolizing the essence of the event: championing the charitable cause of Rady Children's Hospital and encouraging team unity among the program's youth participants.

The charity bus push will be hosted by renowned rugby analyst and former international player Alex Corbisiero. A true champion of the sport and public awareness, Corbisiero promises an exciting day celebrating community, dedication, and the power of teamwork for a worthy cause as the SD Legion enters its home opener on March 16th at Snapdragon Stadium. We invite our fans to support this event and the team by getting tickets for the San Diego Legion home opening match against the RFC Los Angeles.

Furthermore, throughout the season, for every try scored by the SD Legion during home games, we will be donating to Rady's Children's Hospital. This initiative is part of our ongoing commitment to supporting the health and well-being of children in our community.
