Bay Area Panthers News Release
Athletes from all over the world descended upon San Jose State in hopes of making an impression at the Bay Area Panthers' open tryout on Saturday.
There were many who did just that.
"That talent was awesome," said Head Coach Rob . Keefe. "That's probably the most talent I've ever seen at an open tryout. We couldn't be more pleased with who showed up today."
Athletes were timed in the 40-yard dash, put through agility drills and put to the test with one-one-one competitions based on position. Hopefuls traveled across the country and one lineman flew in from Japan to compete for a training camp invitation.
"I am a product of the system. My career is attributed to taking a four-hour journey in a car at five o'clock in the morning to get to an open tryout 20 years ago," said Keefe. "I really believe in this process. There are going to be guys who worked out for today that find their way to training camp and called back throughout the year. I'm very proud of the guys who took this opportunity and it says a lot about their character."
