
Screaming Eagles Hire Charles Grant as Goalie Coach, Scott Gouthro as Goalie Consultant

SYDNEY- The Cape Breton Screaming Eagles have announced the hiring of Charles Grant as the club's new goaltending & video coach, and the hiring of Scott Gouthro as goaltending consultant.
Grant, a native of Berwick, Nova Scotia, has ten years of experience of coaching and instructing at different levels. Last season Grant worked as goaltending coach for the Acadia Axemen of Atlantic University Sport and the Valley Wildcats in the Maritime Hockey League. Previously he spent five years as a senior goaltending instructor at Andrews Hockey Growth Program. This coming winter Grant will serve as the goaltending coach for the under 16 men's team Nova Scotia at the Canada Games.
During his playing career Grant spent four years at Dartmouth College in NCAA Division 1, where he obtained a Liberal Arts Degree with a major in Environmental Studies. He was an Academic All-American having maintained a GPA of greater than 3.0 for three consecutive terms). He also played professionally in the ECHL with the Rapid City Rush in the Arizona Coyotes organization.
Gouthro, who is from Little Bras D'Or, previously worked with the Screaming Eagles as a goaltending & video coach for nine seasons from 2005 to 2014. He worked for Hockey Canada for three seasons, winning a gold medal at the Under 18 level, and a world championship with the national sledge hockey program as well as a bronze medal at the Paralympic games. Gouthro also spent two seasons as the goalie development coach with the Calgary Flames, working with AHL teams in Adirondack and Stockton from 2014 to 2016.
In 2000-01 Gouthro appeared in three games for the Screaming Eagles and would go on to win the Royal Bank Cup (the national Jr. A championship) in 2002 with the Halifax Oland Exports, where he was named top goaltender in the tournament. He also played professionally for Winston-Salem in the SPHL.
