Prince Albert Raiders News Release

Calgary, AB - The Prince Albert Raiders (8-1-0-0) got back in the win column on Monday afternoon, defeating the Calgary Hitmen (0-5-1-0) by a 4-0 score at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

And it was the Calgary content for the Raiders that propelled them to victory.

Toronto Maple Leafs prospect and Calgary product Ian Scott made 23 saves for his first shutout of the season and fourth of his career. Calgarian Brett Leason had a pair of goals and an assist.

The win wrapped up the Raiders' Central Division road trip with a 3-1-0-0 record.

Kelly got the scoring started with 6:16 to play in the period. While shorthanded, Noah Gregor threw a saucer pass to Kelly, who chopped it past Carl Stankowski while falling down for his fifth goal of the year and first shorthanded marker.

The Raiders increased their lead 43 seconds into the second period. Brett Leason dug a puck out of the corner and centered the puck for Aliaksei Protas. The Belarusian rookie buried his second backhand attempt for his third of the season, making it a 2-0 game.

At the 8:28 mark of the period, the Raiders made it a 3-0 game. Leason's point shot found its way through traffic and a Kelly screen past Stankowski for his fifth of the year.

Just after the media timeout in the second, Leason found the back of the net for the second time. The Calgary product made a quick move around a defender and buried a wrister from the top of the slot for his team-leading sixth of the season.

That goal ended Stankowski's night. Calgary's netminder stopped 15 shots on 19 attempts in his 31 minutes of play.

In the third, all that was left to decide was the status of Scott's shutout. The Calgarian made 10 saves in the third to ice his clean sheet. It was Scott's first shutout since March 4, 2017 against the Kootenay ICE at the Art Hauser Centre.

In relief for the Hitmen, Jack McNaughton made 12 saves for the Hitmen, including breakaways from Kelly and Leason.

Up next for the Raiders is a matchup against Saturday, October 13 against the Red Deer Rebels (5-2-0-0) on Parker Kelly Bobblehead Night presented by Canadian Tire. Tickets are available at the Raider Office and at tickets.raiderhockey.com.

Also coming up at the Art Hauser Centre is Hocktoberfest on Saturday, October 27 when the Regina Pats come to town.
