Scorps Go for Sweep of Tucson Tonight
May 29, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Chico Outlaws News Release
We wanted to wish everyone a safe and peaceful Memorial Day Weekend. Please take a minute to remember the men and women who have sacrificed so much to keep us safe and prosperous, and thank the many Military personnel you see around town and at Scorpions games.
Now, back to fun! First, for you Swap Meet fans, we'll be at the 4th Avenue Swap Meet on Sunday, May 30, with a limited number of free tickets for the Tijuana series. Find us there and find out more about the Scorpions!
Last night the Scorpions took the series from Tucson with a nail-biting 6-4 win. We're now tied for first place in the GBL South and have the most wins in the league with six. If you haven't been out to Desert Sun, you are missing a hustling, exciting team that plays hard night in and night out. Our manager, Darryl Brinkley, has the guys going all out every night, and it's fun to see. We'll try to sweep Tucson out of town tonight at 7 p.m. The band Palo Verde Street will play in the concourse before the game, so come out a little early and enjoy the music!
We're finishing the series with Tucson tonight but we'll be back in action Tuesday through Thursday with our first visit from the Tijuana Cimarrones, one of the GBL's two expansion franchises for 2010. We encourage all our Hispanic fans to come out, have some fun with us and watch us (hopefully) move even further ahead in the standings.
Speaking of Tijuana, for you Swap Meet fans, we'll be at the 4th Avenue Swap Meet on Sunday, May 30, with a limited number of free tickets for the Tijuana series. Find us there and find out more about the Scorpions!
We've also firmed up our Faith Night concert shows, with Yuma's own Chuck Leavitt performing before and after our games on July 10 and August 7. This is a GREAT opportunity for any church group to do some very easy fundraising. Call us at 257-4700 to find out how you can raise funds for your church youth, choir, travel or any other kind of group by simply attending one of our Faith Night concerts. Some of our friends at Revolutions Church are on board with the program, hopefully your church will join us as well!
Some other dates to remember: Friday, June 4 vs. Victoria - Time Warner Cable Night at the Ballpark - tickets available through Time Warner Cable Friday, July 2 vs. Tucson - our second spectacular fireworks show of the season, presented in part by Coca Cola and Rx Positive. We're expecting our biggest crowd of the year that night, you should be there too! Saturday, August 7 vs. Tijuana - our second Faith Night concert of the year.
For any information about the Scorpions, please call us at 257-4700. Thank you for being a Scorpions fan and we'll see you at Desert Sun!
