St. George, UT - The Edmonton Capitals bats came alive Friday night with four home runs that added up to a 9 - 4 win over the St. George RoadRunners. Even the pitchers were getting in on the offence with reliever Mike Hrynio launching a solo shot in the late innings. Former Texas Ranger and Colorado Rockie Cliff Brumbaugh blasted a three-run home run early in the game to put Edmonton out front 4 - 1. Canadian kid Matt Rogelstad made it back to back long balls to give the Capitals a healthy lead they did not relinquish. Catcher Josh Tarnow also chipped in with solo home run.
Starting pitcher Evan White was making his first appearance in a Capitals uniform and made a pretty good first impression with six strikeouts in just three innings of work. The bullpen held up their end of the bargain striking out nine more batters on the way to Edmonton's third win of the season.
The Caps snap a 2 game losing streak and improve their record to 3 - 6. They'll have a chance to win their first series of the young season as their ten game road trip concludes Saturday in St. George.
