Orange County Flyers News Release

VICTORIA, British Columbia - Victoria's Brian Rios finished the Seals come-from-behind win over the Flyers with a two-out walk-off homerun in the bottom of the seventh inning in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday. Doubleheaders in the Golden Baseball League are 7-inning contests.

Rios, a former Flyer, homered off closer Andre Simpson, breaking a tied-game for the 4-2 win. The Seals had tied the score one batter earlier when Terrence McClain singled to cash Wilver Perez.

Flyers' outfielder Ben Johnson tied the game, 1-1, with a solo homerun, his league-leading fourth of the year, in the top of the sixth, and the Flyers pulled ahead on Steve Boggs' RBI single to score Tyler Keeble in the top of the seventh.

Flyers starter Jesse Smith pitched effectively despite not factoring into the decision, pitching six innings of two-hit ball. Seals' reliever Andrew Arreola earned the win, and Simpson took the loss.

The second game of the doubleheader begins at 8pm at Royal Athletic Park in Victoria.

The Flyers will send former NL All-Star Byung-Hyun Kim to the mound in the series finale against the Seals at Royal Athletic Park on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1:35pm, and the games can be heard live through the team website, www.OrangeCountyFlyers.com.
