Scorpions To Salute The Badges on March 2

[ RIO RANCHO, N.M.]-The New Mexico Scorpions are proud to announce at their game on March 2, they will "Salute the Badges." All law enforcement officers, public service officers and firefighters from around the state are invited to the Santa Ana Star Center to take part in this special night.

On the ice the Scorpions will host their rivals the Arizona Sundogs starting at 7:35 p.m. New Mexico will wear special jerseys depicting silhouettes of those in service and symbols from both law enforcement and firefighting.

Following the game, the authentic game worn jerseys will be auctioned off. Proceeds from the live auction will benefit Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central New Mexico, chosen by law enforcement, Haven House and Safe House, chosen by the firefighters.

Adding some fun to the night will be the "Quest for the Cup." The Scorpions will award the "Badges Cup" to the organization who wins the most of the five set competitions. Elements to winning the cup include, selling the most group tickets for the event, sumo wrestling on the ice, intermission tug o' war, tricycle racing and the "cops vs. fire" post-game hockey battle.

The winning team will have the cup for a year. They will be able to carry it around to each of their stations throughout the state, bring it to community events and most importantly have bragging rights over their brethren until the following hockey season.

Come see the young, tough and exciting New Mexico Scorpions at the Santa Ana Star Center. Flex plan tickets are still available for the remainder of the 2006-07 season.
