LAREDO, Texas - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks hammered the Amarillo Gorillas 10-2 at the LEC on Thursday night in front of 5,472 rowdy fans. Forward Jeff Bes scored four goals as the Bucks set a new season high for goals in a game and posted their largest margin of victory this year. Overall Laredo won their fourth straight game and everyone in attendance got a free frosty from Wendy because the Bucks scored at least six goals. Laredo improved their Southern Conference best record to 32-13-5 with 69 points, and they lead Corpus Christi by nine points with a game in hand in the Southeast Division race. Laredo is on the road in Corpus Christi on Saturday, then returns home on Sunday against Austin. The Bucks are offering season tickets starting at less than $79. Laredo wasted no time lighting the lamp as Bes scored on a wrist shot from the right side at 1:07 for his 18th of the season. At 11:43 Bes was at it again, this time shoveling the puck home from the bottom of the left circle for his second of the game and a 2-0 Laredo lead. Amarillo got on the scoreboard as forward Austin Sutter tallied on a wrist shot on a power play chance at 15:29. Despite the 2-1 score the Bucks out shot the Gorillas 18-6 in the period and dominated the play.

Laredo continued to dominate the game in the second period as Bes scored his third of the night to complete the hat trick as he found a loose puck in front at 4:35 on a power play opportunity. The Bucks continued to roll as forward Leo Thomas cut done the left wing and snapped a shot home top shelf glove side at 8:39 for his 18th of the season. It was the third straight game with a goal for Thomas. Forward Chris Korchinski then got loose on a breakaway and fired home a wrist shot low stick side at 9:24 for his 20th of the year and a 5-0 Laredo lead. Amarillo pulled goalie Shawn Conschafter and inserted Jamie Vandespyker at this point. The Gorillas briefly got the momentum back when Sutter blasted in his second of the night at 17:17, but the Bucks answered right back. Thomas cut right side into the zone and centered to forward Steve Simoes who tipped the puck into the net at 18:40 on a power play. It was the first of the year for Simoes and the sixth of the night for Laredo which gave everyone in attendance a free frosty from Wendy's.

The Bucks kept the petal to the metal in the third period. Bes recorded his fourth of the game on a terrific backdoor pass from forward Neil Clark at 3:13. Later forward Igor Pohanka stole the puck in the Amarillo zone and scooped home a backhander at 5:05 to make it 8-2. The assault went on as defenseman Steve Weidlich flung in a backhander from the slot at 12:31. Forward Bobby Chaumont completed the scoring with a snap shot from the top of the left circle for his 22nd of the season at 19:43. FINAL SCORE Laredo 10, Amarillo 2.

Kevin Reiter allowed two goals on 17 shots and improved to 11-5-1. Conschafter allowed five goals on 26 shots in 29:24 and took the loss to fall to 14-11-1. Vandespyker gave up five goals on 12 shots in 30:36 of relief and did not factor in the decision. The Bucks were 2-4 on the power play, while Amarillo went 1-8. The Bucks out shot the Gorillas 38-17.
