SCORPIONS MATCH-UPS â

The Cotton Kings are just 4-8-0 since a 5-2 loss to the Scorpions at Tingley Coliseum on Dec. 28. Anders Strome has five goals in the last five games and leads Lubbock with 22 goals and 33 points. Jan Melichercik leads the Cotton Kings with 22 assists and is second with 29 points. All-Star goalie Lance Leslie is fifth in the CHL with 15 wins and a 2.33 GAA. Lubbock is third in the CHL allowing 2.6 goals per game.
AMARILLO â With Saturday's win, the Scorpions are now 3-0-1 against the Gorillas this season, with all four games being decided by one goal. The Gorillas saw a six-game winning streak come to an end with Saturday's loss. All-Star Derek Hahn is far and away the Gorillas' top scorer with 41 points (17g-24a), but the Gorillas are just 15th of 17 teams averaging 2.66 goals per game. Shawn Degagne has started nine straight games and is seventh in the league with a 2.49 GAA.
SAN ANGELO â The Saints have won five in a row after sweeping a weekend home-and-home series from Lubbock. All three games this season have gone to overtime (won by the Scorpions) or a shootout (two for the Saints). Bret Dececco (14g-17a) and Kevin Vandewaeter (13g-18a) are tied for the team lead with 31 points.
